Gayatri mantra is one of the most powerful mantras known as Savitri mantra. It is revered from the vedas (Rig Veda). It is one of the famous mantras used on all important and auspicious occasions by hindu priests while performing the rituals. It is composed of 24 letters similar to 24 Vertebrae of spine. The spine ensures flexibile movements and provides support to the body. Like the spine, it is belived that chanting Gayatri mantra brings stability to life.

The Gayatri Mantra in Hindi:

ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥

The Gayatri Mantra in English and its meaning:

oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥtat savitur vareṇyaṃbhargo devasya dhīmahidhiyo yo naḥ pracodayāt

Meaning:

O, Divine mother, our hearts are loaded up with darkness. Kindly make this darkness distant from us and advance brightening inside us.
