When you are talking of a person, or a thing and need to determine its position, you will use position words such as above, under, beneath, behind etc. These position words are also known as prepositions.
As per the English grammar, there are instances where to use a particular position/preposition. Today, we will discuss about above and below positions.
Difference between above and below positions
Above is a preposition word used in reference to a place, person or a thing at a higher position.
For e.g., Sky is above the land.
Below is a preposition word used in reference to a place, person or a thing at a lower position.
For e.g., The ball is below the table.
Below are few more examples to learn the concept of above and below more clearly.
Example 1
Here, look at the number chain below:
1
2
3
4
5
In this case, the first number is 1 followed by 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Thus, 1 is above all the numbers. 5 is the last number in the queue. So, 5 is below all the numbers. Similarly, when we compare between number 2 and 3, 2 is above 3 and 3 is below 2.
Example 2
See the below worksheet
Here you will see three objects in each box. The icon that appears at the top of each box is above all the remaining objects in the box. The last object is below all the objects.
