You have seen players receiving man of the match award or dual players receiving man o fthe match award in a single match. But, have you heard that the whole team won man of the match award in a single ODI match?

Yes, this is happened in ODIs not for a single time but twice. Check out the below list for complete details: –

New Zealand VS West Indies, 3 April 1996

In this match, New Zealand lost the toss and West Indies invited them to bat first.  They made just 158 runs in a 50 overs match. CM Spearman made 41 runs as a highest score. It was the effort of complete New Zealand team who enables them winning the difficult match. They all out West Indies on 154 runs and won the match.

As it was a pure team effort, board decided and gave man of the match award to all 11 players. NJ Astle, C Cairns, S Fleming, LK Germon, C Harris, G Larsen, D Patel, C Spearman, S Thomson, R Twose, and J Vaughan shared man of the match together.

England VS Pakistan, 1 September 1996

This was the second incident when ICC board presented combined man of the match award to all 11 players. In this Match, England made 246 runs in 50 overs. The Pak bowlers controlled English batsman and stopped them under 250. Saeed Anwar and Shahid Anwar had given an amazing tart to the Pakistan inning but the team lost 4 early wickets in the middle order. The score reached to 6-199. Rashid Latif and Saqlain Mustaq took the charge and led Pakistan near to victory.

This match was won because of complete team effort. The whole team won the man of the match award.
